What is RPAC?
Formed in 1970, the Illinois REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) is a voluntary, non-profit, non-partisan organization of real estate professionals. Our purpose is to provide financial assistance to the election campaigns of qualified candidates who support private property rights. Funding comes from voluntary contributions made by REALTORS®, Affiliates, and other members.
How do I benefit from my contributions to RPAC?
RPAC can turn your personal conviction into political action on issues that impact your business and your future. Issues such as land use, property taxes, affordable housing and government regulation. RPAC combines your voice with thousands of REALTORS® from across the state and the nation, so you become a powerful force with proven influence in elections and legislative battles locally, statewide and nationwide. Through RPAC, the Illinois Association of REALTORS® pursues a proactive legislative agenda that promotes and protects your business rights.
Where do RPAC Dollars Go?
Up to 70% of the money you give to RPAC stays in Illinois to support state and local candidates and election. Through a cooperative agreement with the National Association of REALTORS®, 30% of contributions are designated for federal campaigns and for issues advocacy.
How much should I contribute to RPAC?
The majority of surrounding REALTOR® Associations bill their members for RPAC at the same time they do their annual dues billing. Because our members enjoy monthly billing as a benefit of membership in the REALTOR® Association of the Fox Valley, Inc. (RAFV), we don't do an annual dues billing. We are not asking you to contribute a "one-time lump sum" to RPAC. All we ask is that you contribute $5 per month to RPAC at the time you pay your monthly bill. If all REALTOR® members contributed $5 monthly on an annual basis, RAFV would reach its goal as established by the Illinois Association of REALTORS®.
